THE POSITION

The Department of Health is seeking a motivated and dedicated Public Health Program Administrator to join our dynamic Bureau of Medical Marijuana team. In this key role, you will serve as the Medical Marijuana Product Compliance Administrator, overseeing the approval processes for medical marijuana products, devices, packaging, labeling, marketing, promotional materials, and strain name requests submitted by medical marijuana organizations (MMOs). DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide technical assistance and offer problem-solving solutions to MMOs, ensuring they follow the correct procedures for requesting product-related approvals. Duties include offering guidance and recommendations to program staff and supervisors on complex issues and sensitive, high-profile matters, ensuring prompt, accurate, and comprehensive resolutions. You will also develop educational presentations and oversee third-party compliance with training materials. Additionally, you will facilitate coordination between various state government programs and departments involved in medical marijuana research. You will engage with relevant agencies, including legislative and judicial branches, other state agencies, and local public and private entities, to address medical marijuana program needs. Furthermore, you will establish and maintain channels for intra-agency coordination, collaboration, and problem-solving by forming and participating in cross-program workgroups dedicated to issue analysis and resolution.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Public Health Program Associate 2 (commonwealth title); or
  • A bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in the development, analysis, or monitoring of programs, grants, or contracts in health, human services, social or behavioral services, health care services, or health insurance; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
