DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a seasonal Forest Technician with DCNR, you will play a vital role in supporting the Division of Forest Health. You will control forest diseases, insects, and invasive plant species; establish monitoring sites; deploy traps; and conduct regular inspections and maintenance. Your analytical skills will be put to use as you effectively summarize and monitor your findings and test results.
You will aid in developing, implementing, and reporting statewide experimental projects. Collaboration with district staff and pilots will be crucial to streamline operations and ensure readiness for aerial surveys and other pre-flight activities. You will establish field study plots and create detailed reports with the necessary tools. Additionally, you will provide technical support to the Division of Forest Management to ensure forest health and sustainability. Interested in learning more? - Seasonal full-time employment without benefits; 37.5 hours per week.
- Candidate will be scheduled to work 4 days per week.
- The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- An associate's degree in forest technology; or
- Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
