DESCRIPTION OF WORK

At the Philadelphia Customer Service Center, you will perform a variety of tasks related to processing incoming applications for initial and ongoing public benefits. These public benefits include but are not limited to: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, or "food stamps"), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF, or "cash assistance") and various types of Medical Assistance. This involves regular interaction with applicants and staff as well as processing incoming paper and electronic applications. Clerical Assistant 2s regularly provide guidance to the public about how to apply for benefits. They perform office functions such as scanning/indexing and delivering documents as well as data entry. They may also be responsible for tasks such as sorting and processing incoming and outgoing mail, maintaining documents and files, and may act as office timekeeper. Work may include light labor such as delivering or storing office supplies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch.
- Travel and overtime as needed.

- Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
