DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will be crucial in providing semi-skilled manual work in constructing and maintaining Memorial Lake State Park Complex, including Memorial Lake and Swatara State Parks, J.E. Ibberson Conservation Area, and Boyd Big Tree Preserve. You will manage most tasks independently; however, you will collaborate with your co-workers and supervisor on more complex maintenance and construction efforts.

In this role, you will ensure that all repairs to buildings and facilities are expertly completed using carpentry tools, electrical work, plumbing, and various other building trades. You will take charge of landscaping and grounds maintenance, confidently handling tasks such as mowing, pruning, and operating a range of power tools. Additionally, you will skillfully paint and maintain park buildings, signs, and fences. You will excel in general housekeeping and building maintenance by efficiently cleaning and stocking comfort stations, day-use restrooms, pit latrines, offices, and all other park facilities. This will include making minor routine repairs, such as replacing light bulbs or tightening fixtures, as needed. With your friendly demeanor and extensive park knowledge, you will engage confidently with the public, answering questions, providing directions, and effectively addressing comments or complaints. Work Schedule and Additional Information: .

  • Seasonal Full-time employment without benefits..
  • Shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Weekends, holidays and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition or Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
