What this job involves - We are seeking a skilled and experienced Building Automation System (BAS) Technician to join our team at a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical research and development facility. The BAS Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the building automation system, ensuring the uninterrupted operation and efficiency of critical systems within the facility. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the environment where pharmaceutical research is conducted, and it requires a deep understanding of building automation technologies and their application in a highly regulated industry.
What is the day to day? Installing, programming, and configuring the building automation system to meet the specific requirements of the pharmaceutical research and development facility Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of the BAS components, including sensors, controllers, actuators, and network devices Ensure the BAS system is aligned with industry standards, local codes, and regulations for pharmaceutical facilities Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with the BAS system, identifying root causes and implementing appropriate solutions to minimize downtime Perform repairs and replacements of malfunctioning BAS components to restore system functionality Collaboration with other technical teams, such as HVAC, electrical, and mechanical, will be necessary to integrate the BAS system with other building systems and ensure optimal performance Monitoring the performance and energy consumption of the facility's critical systems using the BAS system will be part of your role, as you identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for necessary equipment, spare parts, and technical support related to the BAS system, while keeping accurate records and documentation of system configurations, maintenance activities, and repairs performed Stay updated on the latest advancements and best practices in building automation technology will be crucial for ensuring continuous improvement of system performance Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working on the BAS system is essential to mitigate any risk and promote a safe working environment Desire experience and technical skills Required - High school diploma or equivalent 2+ years of experience as a BAS Technician, preferably in a pharmaceutical or laboratory environment In-depth knowledge of building automation systems, including hardware components, software applications, and programming languages Experience with Siemens Desigo platform is preferred Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams related to building automation systems Familiarity with protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and other industry-standard communication protocols Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality results within established timelines Knowledge of applicable safety standards and regulations related to building automation systems Attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting BAS systems Preferred Trade School with an emphasis on HVAC Specialized training/certification in BAS or HVAC Systems Previous experience working in life sciences environment Technical certifications or vocational training in building automation systems will be advantageous #BEjobs |
