Thermal Operations and Test Engineer

Responsible for the development of a vehicle test plan in the Thermal Drive Cell at the Chelsea Thermal Climatic Wind Tunnel (CWT). Responsible for the verification of all test vehicle instrumentation and configuration protocols prior to vehicle testing. Support testing in the Thermal Drive Cells and able to operate Climatic Wind Tunnel as required.

Job Requirements

• Assure that all tests are accurately implemented on vehicles in the Climatic Wind Tunnel.
• Contact thermal engineers, as required, to validate all test information and develop a solid test.
• Work with mechanics on vehicle instrumentation and setup for testing in the Climatic Wind Tunnel. Plan. Develop Work Orders for instrumentation builds.
• Inform the supervisor and the thermal engineer of any vehicle, Climatic Wind Tunnel, and instrumentation/data acquisition system anomaly and document it using test management software.
• Verify that the vehicle and instrumentation functions properly prior to conducting all tests in the Climatic Wind Tunnel.
• Department DIA to maintain road trip computers, software, hardware, tracking equipment.
• Various other technical assignments related to Aero/Thermal testing, as deemed appropriate by management.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET accredited university.
• 1+ years experience in Thermal, HVAC, or Cooling systems.
• Ability- to work 100% on site at CPG.
• Experience with Data Acquisition systems.
• Some experience working with SBU / Bargaining Unit personnel
• Excellent written & oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Some experience with Thermocouples, Pressure transducers, shunts.
• Knowledge with data acquisitions system setup and issues resolution.
• Experience with vehicle CAN bus systems operations.
• Experience running a Climatic Wind Tunnel.
• Experience using INCA to collect vehicle bus data.
• Experience with computers using MS Office applications.
