Benjamin Moore has an opening for a PSM, Project Engineer Intern based out of their Pell City, AL manufacturing facility. The PSM, Project Engineer Intern will assist the engineering group in supporting Benjamin Moore's Latex Resin and Low Flash Production Facilities.

As a PSM, Project Engineer Intern, you will help design, plan, and implement capital projects using engineering concepts while gaining exposure to OSHA PSM and EPA RMP requirements. Additionally, you will experience other aspects of a manufacturing environment, such as safety practices, continuous improvement, product development, maintenance and reliability, and process optimization.



Responsibilities

    Develop an understanding of OSHA safety practices and participate in plant safety processes and activities.
  • Develop an understanding of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP elements.
  • Assist in coordinating PSM improvements and ensuring communication within the plant while maintaining detailed records of process changes (MOCs).
  • Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of capital projects to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost utilizing project management practices. Examples of projects include:
    • Installation of batch controller to more accurately dispense raw materials to tanks
    • Installation of nitrogen inerting system for non-conductive flammable liquid storage tanks to address PSM action item
  • Field verification and updating of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) in AutoCAD.


Qualifications

  • Must be actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • Ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment while adhering to all safety practices.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing while collaborating with different departments and/or teams.
  • Ability to demonstrate and apply relevant skills and knowledge to solve problems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency Adobe AutoCad is a plus.
