As an Assistant Operations Manager-Welding at Ryerson, you will be responsible for assisting the operations manager with the efficient function of our welding departments and assume overall leadership in the absence of the operations manager.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Works with supervisors and area leads to evaluate operational practices and work with the operations manager to deploy resources for improved efficiency
  • Develop and implement effective inventory control systems
  • Develops and maintains both inter-departmental and inter-branch through regular meetings and communications, continuous improvement initiatives, and positive employee relations through regular performance, evaluations, one on ones and regular team meetings
  • Ensures consistent improvement in inventory integrity through on-time delivery, reduction in aged inventory, reduction in inventories in quarantine, reduction in average time to process vendor claims and customer credits
  • Maintains and coordinates new hire information, training, and ADP/eTime and other related questions pertaining to time and attendance
  • Works in compliance with all health, safety, and environmental programs as established by legislative requirements and company policies
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5 Years' experience in Welding, Fabrication and Structural Welding processes
  • Understanding of general manufacturing terminology along with a strong understanding of GD&T and drawing standards
  • Possesses a strong understanding of continuous improvement tools and proactively supports continuous improvement
  • Effective delegation and employee development skills
  • Knowledge of ISO policies, procedures, and work instructions as outlined by ISO 9001:2008 Training Matrix
  • 3 years of leadership experience
  • Other (Communication Skills, Mechanical Aptitude, Math Skills, Learning Skills, or Other Specific Skills Required)



Salary: $74,023.68 - $111,035.52 annually. A starting salary higher than $74,023.68 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate withe the compensation scale.
