Position Purpose

  • This position is filled based on an applicant's specific current skills and experience in the nursing clinical setting.
  • .The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical excellence, strong critical thinking skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.


Essential Functions

  • Assist students in performing nursing procedures in the clinical site setting, ensuring that students have the necessary support and guidance to succeed.

  • Serve as a resource for both students and clinical site facility staff during clinical sessions, answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a positive learning experience.

  • Ensure that students comply with clinical site facility policies, procedures, and safety protocols to maintain a safe and efficient clinical environment.

  • Provide remedial instruction to students in the clinical setting to reinforce concepts, improve skills, and ensure students are meeting clinical objectives.

  • Advise faculty/course leads on common challenges encountered by students, track student progress, and offer feedback on student performance.

  • Assist students in the operation of software such as Electronic Health Records (EHR) used in the clinical setting, providing hands-on training and troubleshooting as needed.

  • Maintain records of student clinical attendance, performance, and skills competencies to ensure accurate tracking of student progress.

  • Assist in the operation of the simulation laboratory, including virtual simulation, ensuring students are prepared for real-world clinical scenarios.

  • Support instructors in the Nursing Lab as needed, helping facilitate student learning and providing guidance in hands-on skills training.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in the Nursing Department during peak workload periods to ensure the smooth operation of clinical and lab activities.

  • Must be able to work days, evenings, or weekends.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with a current, valid, unrestricted license in the state of Ohio.

  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association.

  • Teaching experience in an associate degree nursing program is preferred, but recent teaching experience in an education or staff development department within a hospital setting will also be considered.

  • Ensure that your resume includes the months and years of employment for each of your previous employers to comply with Ohio Board of Nursing standards.
