What You'll Do

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator to manage, optimize, and maintain SAP S/4 and ECC6 systems supporting the national security mission to maintain the safety, security, and effectiveness of the United States nuclear weapons stockpile. Working as part of the IT organization's IT Infrastructure team, the Linux/SAP System Administrator position offers you the ability to install, manage, upgrade, and maintain existing Linux, Solaris, and SAP based infrastructure in a large, distributed network environment. This role requires a proactive individual capable of supporting mission-critical computing environments while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

You will also be responsible for:



  • Managing and administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Solaris systems in support of SAP S/4 and ECC6 environments.
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining RHEL and Solaris servers, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Supporting SAP S/4 and ECC6 infrastructure and collaborating with SAP Basis and functional teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Performing system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues
  • Applying system updates, security patches, and manage configuration changes following ITIL standards.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Implementing and maintaining backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with security policies and best practices.
  • Administering and supporting core Linux and Solaris based technologies
  • Provide after-hours support for emergencies and occasional weekend maintenance

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field: Minimum 4 years relevant experience.
  • Master's degree: Minimum 2 years relevant experience.
  • Twelve or more years of relevant education, training, and/or progressive experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • 5 years of experience as a Linux systems administrator, with at least 3 years specializing in SAP S/4 and ECC6 environments.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration, server installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite
  • Experience with Oracle Solaris
  • Experience configuring, running, and maintaining ZFS
  • Experience with Ansible automation/configuration management
  • Experience in designing, maintaining, and implementing large scale enterprise business systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with SAP ERP products and deployment projects
  • Understanding of installation, setup, and management of SAP R/3 systems in support of the SAP ECC product line including SAP HANA DB.
  • Knowledge of SAP Basis administration
  • Experience in installation, maintenance, and operations of SAP ERP product suite in multiple environments (Linux, Windows, Solaris)
  • Strong understanding of the interactions between applications, operating systems, and third-party software
  • Strong knowledge of networking, storage, and system security principles.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of security best practices for SAP environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare
  • Experience with backup and recovery of physical and virtual computing environments
  • Experience with supporting mission essential systems
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Singularity, Docker)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions and hybrid environments.
