Agronomy Sales Associate

SALARY/PAY RANGE

$50,000 - $60,000

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Trains and works to generate profitable sales in the assigned territory through learning target marketing, competitive analysis, providing value-added agronomic products, services, and recommendations, ensuring the credit worthiness of customers, and promoting credit programs as marketing tools.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develops Marketing and Sales Strategies: Creates target marketing plans and trains the team on professional sales techniques, including the FS sales interview roadmap, cropping programs, effective communication of product features and benefits, and managing contacts through the customer relationship management (CRM) system.

Conducts Market and Competitive Analysis: Analyzes territory and competitive landscapes to maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, customer demands, and competitor activities.

Customer Service and Support: Coordinates product deliveries and applications, conducts soil testing, crop scouting, and manages other customer programs. Handles customer complaints efficiently, working to achieve mutually beneficial solutions.

Credit and Sales Management: Assesses the creditworthiness of customers, provides price quotes and credit terms, and prepares sales contracts. Promotes the use of credit programs as a sales tool and assists in providing necessary information for establishing credit.

Inventory Management: Oversees seed inventory to ensure proper stock levels and availability, coordinates inventory sharing between warehouses, and tracks the movement of goods. Distributes seed sorting lists to sales personnel and warehouse staff.

Warehouse and Inventory Control: Ensures inventory protection from damage, maintains accurate documentation of inventory movement, and completes regular physical inventory checks. Communicates product order needs and monitors inventory levels to meet seasonal and daily demands.

Logistics Support: Assists with loading and unloading products to ensure proper stock handling and storage.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and system records.

Collaborate with the sales team to prioritize orders and manage in season orders

Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards, adheres to the uniform policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image.

Ensures field signs are displayed on all customers' fields to promote FS products

Responsible for completing and updating profile information sheets on all targeted prospects.

Collects for sales of all assigned products according to company credit policy.

Develops technical and sales skills in accordance with certification standards.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires an Associate's Degree in agriculture, marketing or business related discipline or the equivalent thereof, and 1 - 2 years or more of business related work experience and/or training or equivalent to demonstrate the ability to generate sales in an assigned territory.

Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Must have or obtain a CDL and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

Must pass the DOT physical and drug test prior to employment and continue to pass these tests anytime required thereafter while employed with the company.

Must have the ability to travel independently and overnight.

Ability and willingness to work extended hours as business conditions warrant.

Normally requires the ability to obtain and maintain applicable professional certifications associated with the agronomy industry. (i.e. CCA, CCS, Commercial Applicator, etc.)

Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and steps, walk on platforms, etc. at required heights to perform as required.

Occasionally exposed or required to:

  • Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, etc.)
  • Noisy conditions
  • Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
  • May be required to work at varying heights
  • Lift 51-75 lbs.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
