We have two openings for this position. The Coordinator of Government Costing will, under supervision and training, perform data gathering, perform analyses, review of service activity rates, calculation of the Facilities and Administrative (F&A) indirect cost, fringe benefit, and tuition remission rates, and other projects as assigned. These positions are hybrid. The applicant would focus on UIC work but can report to either the Chicago or Urbana-Champaign Locations. Most functions can be performed remotely.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist with reviews and analysis of service center rate calculations. Participate in meetings with University departments to learn about their operations and provide guidance in the development of their rates.
  2. Assist with in-person and online training sessions to service center customers, including monthly formal training sessions and other one-on-one and small group trainings as requested by University departments.
  3. Assist in preparation of the Facilities & Administration Rate proposals.
  4. Assist in preparation of the "University Administration Calculation" for all three Universities Facilities and Administrative Rate proposals.
  5. Assist with preparation of Fringe Benefit Rate proposals.
  6. With supervision, run numerous costing databases, queries, and reports in support of all costing functions and operations as required.
  7. Assist with preparation of Tuition Remission Rate calculations, preparation of rate communications, responses to audit requests, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Bachelor's degree with a major in Accountancy or a related field AND two (2) years of professional level accounting experience.

OR

Possession of current registration as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant, or a valid license to practice Public Accounting (LPA).

OR

Master's degree in Accountancy or a related field.

Additional education, training, and/or work experience in an area of specialization inherent to the position may be required:

*One (1) year of professional level accounting experience.

Preferred:
  1. Previous work experience at an institution of higher education or government institution.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Working knowledge of Banner programs/applications and SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence.
  2. Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and state and federal regulations related to cost accounting, sponsored project administration, and rate development.


APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a 100% Full Time Civil Service Accounting Associate position. The expected start date is 5/12/2025. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.

The budgeted salary range for the position is $55,000.00 - 65,000.00. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
