Role

Under limited supervision, is accountable for the efficient and effective operation of assigned vehicle and heavy equipment, the consistent application of safety and operational procedures, and maintenance of good customer relations throughout all applicable service areas.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Performs daily routine safety checks, and pre-trip and post-trip inspections on assigned vehicle/equipment and considers DOT requirements.
  • Ensuring that all safety measures appropriate for operation are consistently and efficiently applied; and maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Operates vehicle in all assigned service areas in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.
  • Loads all assigned materials according to normal operating procedures and reports any violations to supervisor.
  • Assists with compliance as they relate to environmental rules and regulations.
  • Ensures hazardous materials are not accepted, as able.
  • Assures materials being transported comply within the legal load limits. Operates heavy equipment, such as a loader, dozer, excavator or similar equipment, as applicable to location.
  • Reports all accidents and/or safety violations to the appropriate authority and in a timely manner.
  • Completes appropriate documentation / paperwork associated with the assigned job duties.
  • Maintains good customer relations and positively influences the community's perception of the Company throughout all applicable service areas.
  • Able to effectively communicate and understand the needs of Operations and provide support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • One yearofcommercial drivingexperience (Two years of commercial driving experience preferred).
  • Three years of related experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment.
  • Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations.
  • Basic Computer programs.
  • Current commercial driver's A license and a current valid medical card may be needed at some operating companies.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
