The Health Education Office in Davidson College's Center for Student Health & Well-Being (CSHWB) has an opening for the position of Health Education Fellow. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) staff position that starts as a one-year appointment with the option of extending the fellowship to two years if mutually desired by the fellow and Health Educator.

The Health Education Fellow will oversee implementation of the Green Dot Bystander Intervention Program, which trains students, faculty, and staff to prevent sexual violence. The Fellow will create social media content for Instagram on behalf of the CSHWB to advertise campus services. The Fellow will also assist with health education programming such as monthly STI testing, light therapy lamp loans, and educational presentations throughout the year.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Green Dot Management



  • Assist with the development and management of timelines and budget for the implementation of the Green Dot Program
  • Become trained as a Green Dot facilitator, establish a timeline for Green Dot training, and conduct Green Dot workshops throughout the academic year
  • Manage year-round Green Dot activities on campus, including tabling to advertise upcoming trainings, mixers for faculty and staff instructors on campus
  • Oversee meetings with the Green Dot Ambassador student group


Health Promotion and Social Media Content Creation



  • Oversee monthly free STI testing with Mecklenburg County Public Health
  • Create social media content for the CSHWB Instagram to advertise CSHWB staff, departments, services, and events
  • Assist Health Educator with alcohol safety and sexual violence presentations as needed, including assisting with Risk Management Trainings through Student Activities
  • Disseminate light therapy lamps to prevent Seasonal Affective Disorder
  • Meet with Health Educator on a weekly basis to review current and upcoming tasks and projects coming out of the Health Education Office
  • Other responsibilities assigned by Health Educator


Research and Professional Training



  • Research the best practices and most successful initiatives in college health education
  • Attend at least one professional conference or training in this field


Minimum Qualifications



  • Interest in campus health/health education
  • Broad understanding of sexual health topics (STIs, contraception, unintended pregnancy, consent)
  • Solid grasp of campus culture around substance use
  • Must be a recent college graduate (within the past two years - class of 2025 included) Bachelor's degree is required
  • An independent and self-motivated individual
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Well-organized and dependable
  • Collaborative spirit


Desired Skills and Abilities



  • A desire to try new approaches to issues
  • Previous experience in health programming on campus
  • Public speaking experience
  • Some course work or experience in public health, gender and sexuality studies, or other relevant topics
