Summary/Objective:

You'll be a member of a talented engineering team, contributing to the design of new cutting-edge products. To be successful in this position, you should have hands-on experience using CAD software, with strong attention to detail and a creative flair. Primary responsibility is the design and testing of HVAC components such as evaporators and condensers for the school bus and commercial vehicle markets. Desirable skills include:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Creating engineering documents including detail assembly drawings, & BOMs.
  2. Working knowledge of manufacturing & assembly processes.
  3. Understanding general principles of refrigeration and HVAC coil design.
  4. Creating models for coils, sheet metal parts, and plastic molds using 3D SolidWorks.
  5. Creating schematics using 2D SolidWorks.
  6. Performing components and system testing and troubleshooting.
  7. Selecting components to meet applicable specifications/standards.
  8. Revise/improve current products via ECN process

Requirements and Skills:

  • BS or AS Engineering degree with concentration in SolidWorks is required.
  • proficient computer skills including Microsoft 365
  • Excellent oral and written communication; ability to maintain a professional and pleasant demeanor
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work and handle multiple job assignments; ability to work with and communicate with other departments including Product Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality and Operations
  • Ability to sit/stand for long periods daily; position requires some lifting when doing installations.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Physical Demands:

  • May sit for several hours
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens
  • Repetitive use of hands to operate computer, printers and copiers
  • When in R&D areas, assist in prototype development as needed
  • Conduct design reviews in a manufacturing environment around physical prototypes

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salary position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel to other design and manufacturing facilities
  • Occasional travel to trade shows / seminars
  • Occasional travel for customer visits

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Previous experience in the HVAC industry
