Construction Inspector Intern - Transportation Projects

David Evans and Associates Inc. (DEA) is seeking a Construction Inspector Intern to join our Construction Engineering Services team in Denver, Colorado. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated student pursuing a career in civil engineering or construction management to gain valuable, hands-on experience on real-world transportation infrastructure projects.

As a Construction Inspector Intern, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and inspectors, supporting the construction and design of roads, highways, bridges, and accessibility improvements such as curb ramps. You'll play a key role in observing and documenting construction activities, helping ensure that work is completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with project specifications.

What You'll Do

• Support field inspections by observing construction activities and verifying compliance with plans and specifications.
• Document daily construction activity, including labor, equipment, materials, quantities, and site conditions.
• Assist with technical calculations and quantity tracking, using tools like Excel, AutoCAD, and/or hand sketches.
• Communicate effectively with construction managers, project engineers, and other field staff.
• Participate in design support tasks, such as developing plans for curb ramp upgrades and conducting assessments of existing infrastructure.
• Gain exposure to quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes, contract documentation, and construction standards.

What We're Looking For

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Associate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, and have completed at least one year of coursework.
• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and terrain.
• Strong interest in fieldwork, construction, and transportation infrastructure.
• Proficient in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation to job sites.
• Prior construction or inspection experience is a plus, but not required.
