Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the oversight and direction from the Graduate Medical Education Director, the Medical Education Manager oversees Undergraduate Medical Student clerkship, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistants, activities within STHS Facilities, ensuring smooth student rotations, compliance with accreditation, standards and overall management of the student learning experience within a hospital setting. This position includes a wide range of administrative duties related to medical education and graduate medical education. Collaborate closely with the Compliance Officer at South Texas Health System to ensure all rotations adhere to hospital policies and regulations.

The Medical Education Manager will continually assess and direct a wide range of programmatic issues, including long-range planning, overseeing contracts onboarding students, analyzing administrative workflow, maintaining databases, communicating with Medical Schools Deans, Coordinators, faculty and students regarding a wide range of issues, and managing internal and external program relations. Manage the creation and execution of educational activities, including in-person meetings, webinars, and blended learning. Ensure all activities comply with accreditation requirements (e.g., ACCME standards).


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience 3-7 years of office administration experience. Previous graduate medical education and/or healthcare services experience.

Technical Skills Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in working with Undergraduate medical education web-based software or other web-based GME Program Management software.

Other Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, be detail-oriented, Ability to manage sensitive information with absolute confidentiality, make decisions independently.

Ability to organize complex tasks, manage timelines, and meet deadlines. Manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously

Addressing student concerns and providing necessary support. Escalates issues to Administrative Director as needed.

Maintains relationships and facilitates communication between STHS and External Medical schools/Institutions.

Oversee the review and approval of all required documentation received for Student clerkship activities.

Supervisory responsibility: Train and guide new coordinators or administrative assistants within UME.

Familiarity with accreditation requirements and educational program development.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

License/Certification None

Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
