Job Overview

The Journeyman Plumber is a skilled professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing, gas, and steam systems throughout the hospital and its affiliated facilities. This role ensures all systems operate efficiently and safely, in full compliance with applicable codes and standards. In addition to supporting ongoing maintenance, the Journeyman plays a key role in construction and renovation projects, contributing to the organization's infrastructure and safety goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

Assists in planning and coordinating plumbing-related projects, participating in their organization, scheduling, and implementation.

Independently or collaboratively performs plumbing tasks from initiation to completion, contributing to project planning and execution, under supervision or in collaboration with contractors.

Obtains necessary permits and coordinates inspections. Ensures compliance with hospital-specific regulatory and legal building codes, as well as other facility-related requirements.

Documents inspections, repairs, and technical activities in alignment in accordance with departmental policies and professional standards.

Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of completed plumbing repair and maintenance work for compliance and future reference.

Adheres to and enforces safety procedures and protocols during all plumbing activities.

Estimates time and material costs for plumbing projects; forecasts material needs and may assist in ordering supplies and equipment.

Extracts and interprets data from blueprints, engineering orders, reports, and specifications to guide and execute plumbing tasks effectively.

Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, showers, toilets, and water heaters.

Installs, repairs, and replaces piping and fittings for systems for gas, water, steam, air, and heating, including compressors, pumps, and boilers.

Collaborates with design consultants and contractors during plumbing-related construction and renovation projects.

Participates in planning and decision-making for facility construction, renovation, and equipment acquisition.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of plumbing experience in a healthcare, commercial or industrial setting.
  • LICENSURE: Current State of Colorado Journeyman Plumber license.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $26.99 to $40.48
