Join the forefront of groundbreaking research at theBeckman Research Institute of City of Hope, where we're changing lives and making a real difference in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses. Our dedicated and compassionate faculty and staff are driven by a common mission: Contribute to innovative approaches in predicting, preventing, and curing diseases, shaping the future of medicine through cutting-edge research. We are looking for a highly motivated and capable candidate for a Research Associate opportunity in the laboratory of Dr. Zhen Bouman Chen, a leading expert in the field of vascular biology and diabetes complications. Built upon her interdisciplinary training in medicine, vascular biology, bioengineering, and data science, Dr. Chen leads an active research program focused on epigenetics, RNA and chromatin biology and endothelial stress response. Her team integrates innovative high-throughput sequencing technologies, bioinformatics approaches, and multi-scale models to elucidate RNA-mediated endothelial biology in the context of diabetes. Dr. Chen is passionate about mentorship and peer support and has served as a member on the Women Leadership Committee of the Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology Council of the AHA and is currently the Chair of the committee. For more information on Dr. Chen's research please visit here. As a successful candidate, you will: * Participate regular laboratory maintenance, including but not limited to preparation of experimental reagents, documentation of experiment protocols and procedures, etc. * Maintain clearly documented research activities and scientific data. * Work with the PI and other team members (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff scientists) to perform experiments using cell culture, animal models, and human tissues, and conduct bioinformatics analysis for high-throughput sequencing data. Qualifications Your qualifications should include: * Bachelor's degree with 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience * Preferred experience in one or more areas of the following: mouse handling and metabolic phenotyping, microsurgery skills (e.g., dissection, ligation, suture), vascular/endothelial biology, RNA/chromatin biology, immunohistochemistry, immunology, sequencing analysis and bioinformatics, flow cytometry and imaging-based analyses, tissue processing, 3D/organoid culture, and nanomedicine. * Preferred research in one or more of these areas: cardiovascular, metabolic, and endocrine diseases.
