Overview
Presbyterian is seeking a Security Technician. A hospital security guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves monitoring hospital premises, enforcing security protocols, and responding to emergencies to ensure the protection of individuals and property. Security guards patrol hospital grounds, control access to restricted areas, and assist in de-escalating conflicts or disturbances. They collaborate with medical personnel, law enforcement, and emergency responders to address security concerns and uphold hospital policies. Strong observational skills, effective communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential for this position. This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)
Qualifications
- Less than one year experience in general security, however 1 year security experience preferred.
- Must have a current New Mexico drivers license, and must be insurable.
- High School Diploma or GED
Responsibilities
Complete required training within set time limits Conduct routine and ad hoc patrols to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized visitors Perform hazard surveillance for safety, security, and infection control issues Maintain an activity log detailing shift activities Check and document patrol vehicle and equipment daily Serve as a member of the hazardous material/decontamination team as needed Respond to workplace violence reports and notify appropriate supervisors Conduct investigations, maintain records, and prepare incident reports Enforce departmental and organizational policies and procedures Prepare written documentation as required Interact professionally with employees, physicians, visitors, contractors, and vendors Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies when approved Keep supervisor informed of activities and location during shifts Respond to calls for key service, vehicle assist, and escorts in a timely manner Participate in educational programs, in-service meetings, and scheduled training Secure patient valuables and lost-and-found items, maintaining proper logs Control parking and traffic flow, enforce parking policies, and issue citations Monitor visitor conduct and question unauthorized persons as needed Gather information via radio, phone, or in person efficiently and professionally Ensure appropriate response times to service requests Report to work on time, properly uniformed, and with functional equipment Stay updated on current events at the start of each shift Maintain confidentiality and report breaches immediately Report complaints, misconduct, and security issues to supervisors or directors Maintain security equipment, uniforms, and vehicles, reporting issues promptly Follow the chain of responsibility Keep supervisor or director informed of personal work-related changes Attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions Perform heavy lifting of 50+ pounds when necessary for self-defense Assist with lifting patients, visitors, staff, and deceased persons Defend self and others in violent incidents Help medical staff restrain violent, agitated, or hostile individuals Conduct long periods of standing and foot patrols
