Overview

The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and leading the financial close process. This leadership role manages accounting staff, develops internal controls, ensures compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and supports strategic decision-making through accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements.
  • Oversee all aspects of the general ledger, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Coordinate with external/internal auditors and manage the annual audit process.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
  • Partner with FP&A, tax, treasury, and other departments to support company-wide financial initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing historical data and variance analysis.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
    • 10+ years of experience in an Accounting Leadership role
    • 5+ of those years specifically in Construction Accounting

    In addition to the above listed minimum requirements, candidates who poses the following skills, experience, and capabilities may receive greater consideration during the evaluation process:
