For ASML, compliance with laws and regulations is essential. The Legal & Compliance department manages the legal compliance programs including the export control compliance program. The export control compliance program is managed by the Export Control & Sanctions team. The execution of the operational classification and compliance screening processes is performed by the ABS Trade Data Management team.

The job mission of this Manager Export Control Process Automation is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our classification and compliance screening processes related to export control regulations globally in partnership with the ABS Trade Data Management Team. You will drive process improvement, automation and change projects.

It is important that you have proven experience with technological solutions in the export control domain (e.g. SAP GTS, Oracle GTM, Artificial Intelligence) as well as a profound understanding of the requirements to effectively and efficiently execute processes that support export control compliance. The position is based in San Diego, California.

The Manager Export Control Process Automation in San Diego will be a member of the Export Controls team with colleagues located in the United States, Asia and The Netherlands. The position reports to the Head of Export Control USA who reports to the Global Head of Export Control & Sanctions.

Role and Responsibilities

The export control team is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures to safeguard compliance with ASML's Global Sanctions & Export Control Strategy. This includes managing adherence to these policies and procedures, in order to assure compliance with dual-use export control laws and regulations of the jurisdictions to which ASML with its business dealings are subjected to.

The job holder will work on the following aspects:

  • Drive the process improvements that are part of the roadmap of both the Export Control team and the Trade Data Management team

  • Further enhance the classification and compliance screening processes of products, software and technology by automation and AI

  • Lead the implementation of cross functional change / IT driven projects

  • Representing both the Export Control and Trade Data Management teams as a key user in business / IT change projects: provide our requirements, create and execute test scripts, create training materials and work instructions for the deliverables relevant to the teams

  • Establish a strong relationship with ASML employees to ensure cooperation and assistance in the successful implementation of export control-related projects

  • Provide advice on export control risks and controls/measures, and if required, will work closely with external advisors/consultants

The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between Business and IT, and will drive the Export Control and Trade Data Management teams to a higher level of maturity. He/she will meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) required. MS, MA, JD or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience with the implementation of process improvement projects (including using automation/AI) in a multinational corporation

  • Knowledge of export control compliance screening systems such as SAP GTS, Oracle GTM, etc.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) as well as EU Export Control required

  • Background in and knowledge of the export control aspects of engineering and software development is key to this position;

  • Min. 7 years of relevant work experience in Export Controls within a multinational corporation.

  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment and in multi-cultural teams

Travel
  • Limited travel to other ASML Locations

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:

$151,500-252,500

Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.

The Company offers employees and their families, medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to participate in the Company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive eight (8) hours of vacation leave every month and (13) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
