The Chief of Staff to the CFO serves as a strategic and operational partner to the CFO. This individual is responsible for ensuring Finance priorities move forward, managing initiatives, driving the internal operating rhythm, and providing execution support for recurring and ad hoc special projects. The ideal candidate brings structure to ambiguity, leads through influence, and communicates effectively across all levels of the organization. While the role does not include direct reports, it requires the ability to lead through influence and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Success in this role requires a proactive, solutions-oriented individual who demonstrates initiative, identifies and addresses gaps independently, and brings an entrepreneurial approach to advancing the CFO's agenda.

KEY COMPONENTS OF THE ROLE:

  • Organization and Execution (GSD) Drive alignment and execution across the CFO's agenda by managing the priorities dashboard, surfacing blockers, and ensuring timely follow-up on next steps.
  • Special Projects Lead cross-functional efforts dependent on current needs of the organization.
  • Team Operations and Planning: Oversee the Finance team's internal operating rhythm, including meeting cadences (homerooms, retreats, leadership meetings), planning processes (Stakeholder Meeting/Fun Week, Apollo offsite), and rhythm of communications (Voice of Apollo).
  • People & Culture Leadership: Lead CASP execution and support subcommittees that strengthen culture and engagement. Partner with the People Services and Development (PSD) team to support talent transitions, executive onboarding (as needed) succession planning, and overall people strategy across Finance.
  • Board and Executive Communication: Develop high-quality, executive-facing materials including BOD decks, talk tracks, briefing docs, and presentations (Mile High, TLM, Everest).
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as a connector across functions and departments, ensuring key initiatives are integrated, aligned, and efficiently executed.

KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Written Communication- Strong ability to develop clear, concise, and visually compelling presentations and briefing materials, often for executive or Board audiences.
  • Project Management & Influence: Demonstrates ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to move work forward-whether managing through others or working independently. Most projects involve multiple stakeholders and require input coordination.
  • Culture & People Orientation: Genuinely cares about teammate experience and team cohesion; invests in engagement and culture efforts. Able to support talent processes and people transitions thoughtfully and confidentially.
  • Business Acumen & Finance Fluency: A working knowledge of finance and capital markets is highly beneficial, particularly when supporting the CFO. While deep finance experience isn't required, an interest in the business and market dynamics is essential.
  • Relationship Building & Confidentiality: Builds trust quickly and maintains discretion. Able to operate with sensitivity in high-stakes, high-visibility work. Navigates the organization with influence rather than authority.
  • Comfort with Ambiguity & Resourcefulness: Able to bring structure to loosely defined problems, learn on the fly, and use internal networks to gather insights, make progress, and deliver results.

LOCATION & TIME COMMITMENT:

  • Denver preferred, but open to remote
  • Regular collaboration with the CFO (NY-based) and teammates in Denver, Federal Way, and Playa.
  • Occasional travel to Denver is helpful if not based there.
