Essential Job Duties |
We are hiring an
HR Specialist to help keep our operations running smoothly and support the people who make our work possible.
What Makes This Role Unique:
As the HR Specialist, you'll serve as the primary resource for HR services across all employee types -
EHRA,
SHRA, faculty, temporary, and student workers. Your work will be central to both daily operations and long-term goals, helping ensure faculty, staff, and students have what they need to succeed.
This high-impact role offers autonomy, growth, and the chance to lead HR operations across all employee types. You'll manage complex processes with minimal supervision and serve as a trusted partner to faculty and staff. From hiring and onboarding to compliance and compensation, your work will support every area of the college. You'll also help shape HR practices by creating SOPs, advising on policy changes, and sharing knowledge across departments.
Core Responsibilities:
- Create job postings, draft offer letters, coordinate hiring across multiple employee types.
- Guide faculty and staff on HR policies and practices, including compensation, visas, and compliance.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for key HR processes.
- Proactively identify needs and recommend solutions that enhance the employee experience.
- Serve as the primary responder for ServiceNow HR tickets and support inquiries.
- Engage in training, documentation, and knowledge sharing across departments.
- Participate in HR committees and maintain strong connections across campus HR units.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Other Required Qualifications |
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of human resources legal requirements.
- Proficiency in HR information systems and/or related tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Understanding of confidentiality and professional integrity.
- Customer-service orientation with a demonstrated commitment to supporting a varied academic community.
- Ability to problem-solve and apply critical thinking to a wide range of HR-related scenarios.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with progressive experience.
- Knowledge of North Carolina State University HR policies, processes, and procedures.
- Experience with university HR systems such as PeopleAdmin and PeopleSoft.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills including active listening, communication, and a high level of discretion.
- Critical thinking skills to analyze, interpret, and provide recommendations on medium to complex HR needs.
- Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity, especially in a fast-paced, evolving HR landscape.
