In this role, you will:

  • Build, improve, and support applications on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Develop scoped apps, flows, service requests, ACLs, widgets, integrations, and email notifications.
  • Create reports, views, and dashboards in ServiceNow.
  • Work closely with customers to understand needs and turn them into technical solutions.
  • Provide input on project planning and implementation based on your technical understanding.
  • Address issues in ServiceNow and support users in resolving them.
  • Test and update customizations during platform upgrades.
  • Train users and promote awareness of ServiceNow capabilities across the organization.

Qualifications

You're a strong candidate if you have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field - or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with the ServiceNow platform and a solid understanding of ITIL practices.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow APIs like GlideRecord, GlideAjax, and other server/client-side scripting tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting using JavaScript, plus working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical details to a variety of audiences.
  • A problem-solving mentality, using your experience, research skills, and available tools.
  • Strong grasp of the ServiceNow platform's architecture and best practices, capable of designing scalable, maintainable solutions beyond basic configurations.
  • Experience in at least three of these areas:
    • Incident, Change, or Release Management
    • Knowledge Management
    • Service Portal or Employee Center
    • Asset or Configuration Management
    • Reports, Dashboards, or Performance Analytics
  • Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll stand out if you also have:

  • Experience building in ServiceNow's Next Experience (UI Builder).
  • Familiarity with AngularJS or the UI Framework used in Next Experience.
  • Integration experience with REST APIs and JSON.
  • Experience designing and delivering ServiceNow training.
  • A background in designing workflows / flows for both IT and non-IT processes.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
