Personnel Officer / HR Manager FIRE DEPARTMENT City / County of San Francisco, California Annual Salary: $152,802 - $195,026 DOE/DOQ* * As part of the Municipal Executives Association (MEA) Miscellaneous, this role will receive a 2.01% pay increase on July 1, 2025 The City / County (City) of San Francisco, California, seeks a technically strong and collaborative Personnel Officer/HR Manager (Manager) for the Fire Department to oversee personnel and payroll operations for approximately 1,900 employees and 85 civilian staff. This manager plays a vital role in supporting one of the nation's most respected fire departments, overseeing operations that directly impact delivering life-saving services across the City/County of San Francisco. This person will work collaboratively with labor representatives, centralized HR, fire department staff, and High Ranking executive leadership. To be effective in this role, a candidate must demonstrate strong human resources expertise alongside exceptional leadership and mentoring abilities, guiding a team while contributing meaningfully to department-wide strategies and decisions. Success also requires high emotional intelligence, adaptability in high-pressure environments, and the ability to navigate complex legal and organizational issues with professionalism and integrity.
