Description The clerk will be responsible for opening and distributing department mail, sorting and routing invoices for scanning, and managing a high-volume shared accounts payable mailbox that receives over 500 emails daily. Additional duties include responding to inquiries via phone and email, maintaining front office organization, verifying invoice formats and purchase order numbers, checking for duplicates in the system, and collaborating with staff and vendors to resolve issues. The role also involves prioritizing shut-off notices, responding to district hold communications, manually retrieving utility bills from vendor portals such as NES and Piedmont Gas, and potentially processing invoices using the R12 accounting system. Additional Skills & Qualifications Candidates with prior experience in public sector or educational finance environments will be especially well-suited for this role. Familiarity with document scanning and workflow systems is beneficial, as is the ability to navigate vendor portals for utility billing. Bilingual communication skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus but not required. A proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to evolving priorities will help ensure success in this position. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
