Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Utility Operator I, supporting TOS II, at Arnold AFB Tennessee. The selected candidate will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for [e.g. operating and maintaining or supporting] the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to both internal and external candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will perform a variety of manual and technical work in a Steam Plant under general supervision.

Job Duties:

    Operates electrically driven turbine and centrifugal pumps, chlorinating equipment, valves, surge suppressors, cooling towers, heaters (electrical or fuel driven) and other auxiliary equipment
  • Inspects and performs operator/emergency maintenance
  • Provide technical assistance and training for other Cooling Water Utility Operator Intern(s) as needed
  • Maintains shift operating log of Pumping Station System equipment and other activities
  • Coordinates work with other pumping station operators
  • Responsible for ensuring general housekeeping of assigned areas is maintained
  • Responsible to immediate supervisor on matter relating to operation and operator maintenance if assigned pumping station, coordination with other station and coordination of pumping operations with test facilities
  • Responsible for ensuring general housekeeping of assigned areas is maintained
  • Required to wear Company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
  • Perform other duties as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four (4) years of progressive experience in Cooling Water Operations Work
  • Must be knowledgeable in the operation and maintenance of large pumping stations
  • Must have a working knowledge of operation and maintenance of large centrifugal pumps, large electrical motors and associated controls; chlorination and bulk chemical feed equipment and supporting equipment
  • Must be willing/able to work first, second, third, to include odd and weekend shifts
  • Must be available to work overtime as required
  • Must have working knowledge of computers
  • Will participate in functional specific safety training and related environmental stewardship programs
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract
  • S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active secret clearance
  • Working knowledge of various types of pumps and valves
  • Working knowledge pumping station operations and maintenance
