Description
As a Medical Assistant III, you will provide administrative and patient care support to physicians and other health care professionals in the Department of Urology clinics. The MA 3 will travel and work at other UCLA Urology clinics throughout the community as assigned by the supervisor for coverage. Other duties as assigned. You will work under general supervision of the Administrative Nurse 3 and the Sr LVN Supervisor. Work may be assigned and reviewed by both physicians and nurses. Will be evaluated by the Administrative Nurse 3 and the Sr LVN Supervisor. Salary Range: $28.06 - $37.02 Hourly Qualifications
Required: 1. A medical assistant diploma or certificate as follows
2. BLS Certification from AHA or ARC
3.Knowledge of normal and abnormal symptomatology and life threatening medical problems
4 Ability to skillfully administer oral, IM, intradermal and subcutaneous medications
5. Ability to use computerized patient care systems and web-based programs such as the University's EMR System, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
6. Knowledge of medical terminology
7. Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, ancillary departments, physicians and co-workers in a courteous and compassionate manner.
8. Ability to work flexible hours and travel to other Urology clinics as assigned
9. Ability to follow proper channels of policies & procedures, communication & work standards
10. Ability to organize tasks to facilitate smooth work/patient flow
11. Knowledge to schedule patient for referrals to specialists
12. Knowledge and ability to set up and assist physician with urological procedures
13. Ability to perform accurate patient sample testing for waived tests.
14. Knowledge of all safety requirements when handling Biohazardous specimens or contaminated instruments

16. Skill in speaking on a one-to-one basis with persons of various cultural, economic and educational backgrounds to obtain and communicate information
17. Skill in employing independent decision-making techniques while performing various job duties.
18. Ability to maintain composure in situations involving emergencies, dealing with hostile patients, or heavy workload
19. Knowledge of urologic conditions and their treatments. Preferred: 1. Bilingual - Spanish |
