Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Scientist - Laboratory of Translational Pain Research, University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Galveston, TX

The Laboratory of Translational Pain Research in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Scientist (title depending on experience and qualifications) to join our NIH-funded team. We investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms of pain and explore translational interventions, with additional research areas including cannabinoid signaling, depression, and traumatic brain injury. https://www.utmb.edu/dnb/faculty/bios/bin-pan--md--phd

Qualifications:



  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Molecular/Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Biomedical Sciences, or related fields. Solid publication record, teamwork, and scientific rigor. Expertise in either cellular or molecular neuroscience with the capacity to conduct experiments independently


Preferred Skills:



  • Molecular/biochemical techniques: qPCR, Western blot, immunofluorescence
  • Cellular techniques: electrophysiology, calcium imaging.
  • Behavioral neuroscience assays
  • Experience with rodent models: stereotaxic surgery, CRISPR/shRNA, in vivo gene manipulation
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics, and computational tools

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Motivation, collegiality, and the ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Leadership potential: project management, manuscript preparation, and mentoring junior lab members
