AMD together we advance_

THE ROLE:

We're seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution of performance profiling and debugging tools for AI and ML workloads running at scale on the Instinct product line. You'll drive innovation in developer tooling that enables optimization, bottleneck identification, and performance tuning across heterogeneous hardware platforms. The person in this role serves as a critical link between performance conscious developers, hardware engineers engineering, and ML practitioners.

This is a high-impact role ideal for a technically deep product leader passionate about solving complex performance challenges, enabling developer productivity through superior observability, and accelerating AI adoption across the industry.

THE PERSON:

You're a systems-oriented communicator with deep expertise in GPU programming models, memory hierarchies, and performance analysis. You have a proven record of shipping developer tools focused on performance optimization and debugging, with hands-on experience using profiling tools in production environments. You understand the pain points of optimizing neural networks on accelerators and can translate complex performance bottlenecks into actionable production requirements.

KEY RESPONSBILITES:

Product Strategy & Execution

  • Lead product strategy and roadmap for GPU profiling and debugging tools, focusing on kernel level analysis, memory bandwidth optimization, and multi-GPU scaling bottlenecks.

  • Drive roadmap for performance visualization, flame graphs, timeline analysis, and automated optimization recommendations.

  • Partner with compiler and framework engineering teams to integrate profiling capabilities into OSS AI projects.

Developer Experience & Tooling

  • Design intuitive workflows for identifying performance bottlenecks in transformer models, convolutions, and custom GPU kernels.

  • Drive integration with popular development environments (Jupyter, VSCode, PyCharm) and CI/CD pipelines for continuous performance monitoring.

  • Lead initiatives for automated performance regression detection and benchmarking frameworks.

Technical Product Leadership

  • Partner with engineering to drive feature prioritization, manage release cycles (e.g., monthly, nightly), and contribute to the product delivery lifecycle.

  • Serve as the primary voice for performance-focused developers by gathering feedback from HPC centers, cloud providers, and enterprise ML teams.

  • Serve as the voice of the developer by gathering and synthesizing feedback from customers, partners, and the community.

  • Contribute to go-to-market (GTM) content including white papers, solution briefs, demos, release notes, and presentations.

  • Represent the product at performance optimization workshops, GPU computing conferences, and developer meetups.

PREFERED EXPERIENCE:

  • Solid years of product management experience, with a focus on developer tools, performance analysis, or systems software.

  • Deep, hands-on experience with GPU profiling tools: NVIDIA Nsight Systems/Compute, AMD ROCProfiler, Intel VTune, or PyTorch Profiler.

  • Strong understanding of GPU programming model, memory coalescing, and kernel optimization techniques.

  • Experience with distributed training profiling, communication bottleneck analysis (NCCL, Gloo) and multi-node performance debugging.

  • Familiarity with performance characteristics of transformer architectures, CNNs, and emerging model types.

  • Understanding of mixed precision training, gradient accumulation, and memory optimization techniques.

  • Familiar with AI inference, LLMs, generative AI, or performance optimization for AI workloads.

  • Strong collaboration skills with performance, compiler, and runtime product development teams.

  • Track record of shipping developer tools with rapid iteration cycles and community feedback integration.

  • Comfortable reading and contributing to code (Python, C++, etc.) and using GitHub, JupyterLab, or AI coding tools like Copilot.

  • Excellent stakeholder and partner management skills across internal teams and external organizations.

  • Strong written communication, including technical documentation, product messaging, and community engagement.

  • Proven ability to translate low-level performance insights into high-level product strategy and roadmap priorities.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or closely related field.

LOCATION:

  • Santa Clara, Ca
  • We are flexible on location within North America for the right candidate.
