Position Overview:

CSG is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join our team in Herndon, VA. This is a hands-on, senior-level role responsible for architecting, securing, and maintaining enterprise IT systems across both on-premise and cloud environments. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver who can lead technical initiatives, mentor teammates, and ensure secure, reliable system operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, manage, and secure Microsoft Entra ID/Active Directory and other identity management platforms.
  • Design, deploy, and administer cloud services across Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud environments.
  • Manage and maintain VMware virtualized infrastructures.
  • Apply a security-first approach including system hardening, patching, compliance (STIGs, NIST, RMF), and vulnerability remediation.
  • Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, and ServiceNow.
  • Monitor system lifecycle requirements and recommend upgrades, replacements, or retirements.
  • Provide advanced technical support, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor junior administrators.
  • Advise leadership on emerging technologies, integration strategies, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance, reliability, and compliance.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • U.S. citizenship. Sponsorship for employment-based visas (e.g., H-1B, OPT, Green Card) is not available.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (active clearance preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of systems administration or engineering experience beyond IT support/helpdesk.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory
    • Azure and/or AWS (GCP a plus)
    • VMware vSphere/ESXi
    • Scripting/automation using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform
  • Proven experience implementing security compliance standards and patch management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred:

  • Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator/Engineer, Google Cloud, or CompTIA Security+.
  • Experience with Jira and basic networking (routing/switching) concepts.

Work Environment:

  • This is a full-time, on-site position located in Herndon, VA. Remote telework is not available.
  • Standard schedule: Monday-Friday, normal duty hours (weekends and holidays off).
