Make an Impact at the Edge of Innovation

Astrion is seeking a Space Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the Global Mission Operations (GMO) Space Integration Branch within the Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) at United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC). Based at Los Angeles AFB, you'll be part of a forward-leaning mission to advance, integrate, and deliver space capabilities across the USSF enterprise.

In this role, you'll engage in the full systems lifecycle-supporting development, integration, and operations of mission-critical systems. You'll help define the future of space operations by shaping system-of-systems capabilities, conducting mission engineering, and collaborating across portfolios to meet rapidly evolving national defense needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead development and integration of cutting-edge space capabilities across current and future systems

  • Conduct mission engineering analysis and assess design reference missions for risks, gaps, and cross-domain opportunities

  • Perform system-level capability reviews and provide recommendations to close mission-critical gaps

  • Contribute to war room development, capability epoch planning, and kill chain assessments

  • Develop enterprise-level requirements and JCIDS documentation

  • Evaluate policies and technical requirements that influence system design and integration

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders-SWAC, CSRO/S5R, PEO offices-to shape integrated SATCOM, PNT, Missile Warning, TacISR, Launch, and BMC3 solutions

  • Create and deliver briefings, white papers, and strategic roadmaps to senior leadership

What You Bring
  • BS in STEM (Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Earth Science, Math, Ops Analysis, or similar)

  • 8+ years' experience in design, development, and deployment of space systems within the USSF mission space

  • Strong foundation in systems engineering disciplines and mission-level analysis

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams of government, SETA, FFRDC, and contractor personnel

  • Skilled in MS Office Suite and analytical tools; familiarity with JIRA/Confluence a plus

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to brief complex topics to senior decision-makers

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, mission-driven environment

  • Willingness to travel (up to 10%)

Why Astrion?

At Astrion, you won't just support space missions-you'll help define them. Join a team that thrives on challenge, innovation, and collaboration. Work alongside some of the most forward-thinking minds in national security and space exploration.
