What this job involves:

As an Operating Engineer at JLL, you will be the backbone of our building operations team, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems function at optimal levels. This critical role combines technical expertise with customer service to maintain safe, comfortable, and efficient environments for our clients and their tenants. You'll apply your technical knowledge to prevent issues before they arise, troubleshoot complex systems when needed, and contribute directly to our sustainability goals and client satisfaction. Your work will directly support JLL's commitment to exceptional property management and help us maintain our industry-leading position.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Monitor, operate, and maintain building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
  • Conduct daily rounds to inspect equipment and log critical operating parameters
  • Respond to and resolve tenant service requests and emergency situations promptly
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on various building systems
  • Manage building automation systems to optimize comfort and energy efficiency
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, equipment readings, and repairs
  • Collaborate with facility management team to implement energy conservation initiatives
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational training in building systems, mechanical, or electrical systems preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial building operations or facilities maintenance
  • Valid Universal EPA Certification for handling refrigerants
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Experience with building automation systems and preventative maintenance procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical blueprints and schematics
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in mechanical systems, facilities management, or related field
  • Building Operator Certification (BOC) or relevant trade licenses
  • Experience with energy management and sustainability practices
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
