The Specialty Pharmacy Representative II maintains a high proficiency in assisting patients, physicians, and pharmacists in the completion of: benefit investigations, prior authorizations, financial assistance applications, refill/adherence activities, etc He/she enters patient information into patient assessment software. Initiating, completing, and following up on the status of Prior Authorizations or appeals submitted to insurance carriers. Under the direction of a pharmacist, assists with the filling and
distribution of prescriptions, in accordance with the law. Additionally, a Specialty Pharmacy Representative II will be asked to conduct special projects, mentor other employees, be assigned oversight of key business and patient management functions, and participate in business growth and process improvement initiatives.

Job Description

Essential Functions
* Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
* Acts as a liaison between Specialty Pharmacy Representative I and Administrative Supervisor,Pharmacy Manager, and Director to ensure all processes and business functions are optimized tosupport JSP's growth and strategy.
* Receives inbound and outbound calls to patients or physician offices regarding orders orprescription refill information for high dollar/specialty medications (e.g. Oncology, Hepatitis) (underappropriate supervision of a pharmacist), pharmacy services, and all other inquiries.
* Conducts/leads projects to support both the day-to-day functions and growth of the JSP
* Expected to perform SPR I duties as needed to meet the business needs of JSP.
* Explain insurance coverage to patients as it relates to their co-payment responsibility and financialresources available to them.
* Participates in the training of employees, oversees mentorship activities, including development oftraining materials for JSP
* Oversees key Specialty Pharmacy Representative I functions such as Prior Authorization, FinancialAssistance, Inventory, Delivery Management, etc.
* Contributes to departmental Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activities. Expectedparticipation no less than 2% of the time
* Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.

Responsible for monthly follow-up calls to patients to discuss medication on hand, identify any barriersto patient adherence, and facilitate discussions with the clinical staff to help the patient overcomebarriers.
Responsible for coordinating delivery/pick-up of medications with dispatch.
Act as a liaison between the patient and their insurance company, foundations, and manufacturers.
Enroll and coordinate patient financial assistance and support services, copay cards, funding assistance, and manufacturer support programs.
Other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
AND
Experience:
3+ years experience in a customer service role.
3+ years experience in a specialty pharmacy, hospital, health insurance company, benefits department, or other related healthcare environment.
Customer-facing experience a plus

Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:
AS/BS degree preferred; Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred

Additional Information
* Knowledge of clinical software systems, Specialty Medications, and Medicare billing is highly
preferred.
* Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in both written and verbal format with
patients, physicians, payors, and clinical staff in-person and on the phone.
* Flexibility to adapt to departmental changes including: mentoring and assisting other team
members, adjusting assignments, etc.
* Detailed-oriented with excellent organization skills, ability to learn quickly, solve problems, and make
informed educated decisions.
* Willingness and ability to assume roles assuming key aspects of the business
* Strong business and service acumen
