More about the role

We're looking for a Cloud Backend Software Engineer for our Hue Secure development team in Menlo Park, California (hybrid) .

You'll be working on our world leading consumer smart home ecosystem, as part of a multi-disciplinary software engineering team consisting of mobile, cloud, embedded, and QA engineers. Our mission is to build the best smart home security system which differentiates itself through integration with lighting, and a privacy without compromise approach using end-to-end encryption and edge AI.

This role will focus on developing Cloud services for our security cameras.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, test and ship scalable backend services running on AWS to integrate a new category of devices and use-cases into the Philips Hue ecosystem.

• Work in a multidisciplinary team (App, Cloud, Embedded, QA) that together builds new features and functionalities end to end. You represent the Cloud backend in system design choices and definition of specifications.

• Perform data analysis, identify improvement opportunities, provide input to steer the product roadmap, and work on the ongoing performance and reliability of our cloud software operations.

More about you

While we value and appreciate all applicants, we believe that the following experience and skills will be needed to shine brightly in this job opening:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.

• 3+ years working on software development and definition of large scale microservices on AWS in a continuous delivery environment; having worked on IoT / Smart Home products is a plus.

• Experience in object oriented programming (e.g., Go, Python and/or Javascript), serverless- and container-based architectures, infrastructure as code (preferably Terraform), and DevOps tools & practices.

• Effective communication skills to collaborate with other Cloud developers and work with international partners and colleagues, as well as a can-do mentality to realize world-class consumer product experiences.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future company sponsorship needs.

Salary: $116,700.00- $171,160

Bonus Potential : 10%
