However, any non-permanent employee hired to work 30 or more hours per week for three months or more (cumulative of all positions, and not designated as variable hour worker), must be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan, within 30 days of their eligibility. Any non-permanent employee hired to work less than 30 hours per week (cumulative of all positions or designated as variable hour worker - i.e. student workers) are measured during designated measurement periods. If they average 30 or more hours per week over a designated measurement period, they will be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan and will be notified of instructions.

Minimum Experience/Education |
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. Master's Degree preferred but
UNC Charlotte would also consider work experience in the field in lieu of the Master's degree. Candidate should have a base of technical knowledge and application experience in the Engineering field. Land Development engineering and Geotechnical engineering is most preferred, but will also consider similar areas of Civil Engineering. Candidate must have a minimum of 15 years of experience in Industry in a technical capacity. Candidate should have experience in managing diverse, multi-disciplinary engineering teams. Candidates must have an interest and passion for mentoring and developing students. Candidate must possess a Professional Engineering license. |

Duties and Responsibilities |
These positions are temporary and usually involve mentoring a particular course or courses for a particular semester. These positions are temporary and do not accrue benefits.
Responsibilities of this position is to serve as a mentor and grading instructor for College of Engineering Senior Design Projects. In this role, the position will perform the following duties:
* Work with an Industry Project Supporter to understand fully the scope of the senior design project they are assigned to as mentor
* Mentor diverse, multi-disciplinary student teams for Senior course.
* Meet weekly with student team and mentor them to ensure that the project stays on track and meets the desired outcomes of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for the academic course requirements and the Industry Supporter for the defined scope.
* Escalate academic or industry supporter issues to Senior Design Capstone Project Leader in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering as appropriate to facilitate student achievement and industry supporter satisfaction with the Senior Design Program.
* Promptly grade students according to the course syllabus and grading templates using the
CANVAS software package. Training in the use of this tool and grading procedures will be provided.
* Work with Senior Design mentors to handle any issues that arise in order to produce successful teams and results.
* Maintain positive relations with industry supporters to encourage continued participation by industry supporters with the Senior Design Program and the College of Engineering.
* Attend all project team events that occur on campus or at the industry supporter. Examples of these events are weekly team meetings, data gathering visits to industry supporters, design reviews and expos.
