Overview

This position will be primarily responsible for the oversight of safety programs and initiatives at the sites of GDEB's community partners. They will lead the surveillance programs at educational institutions that partner with EB across Connecticut and Rhode Island. They will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of safety focused content and ensuring a safety mindset for EBs current and future employees. They will partner with the institution leadership and instructors to make improvements in safety and ensure a state of continuous safety improvement is instilled in EBs pipelines.

Responsibilities of this position include:

    Partner with EBs affiliated educational institutions across CT and RI to ensure safety programs and curriculum are delivered effectively.
  • Surveil safety training programs across partner locations to ensure compliance, continuity, and effectiveness
  • Deliver EB safety focused training as required at Pipeline partner institutions across CT and RI
  • Oversee surveillance program at partner institutions to include visits and surveillances from other EB stakeholders (Surveillance team, Operations, Workforce Development, etc.)
  • Partner closely with Workforce Development to ensure relationships are maintained and training is adjusted appropriately.
  • Partner with institutions team to ensure EB safety initiatives are effectively implemented
  • Partner with pipeline instructors to help them teach their safety focused content in the most effective manner
  • Research and be in tune with safety training best practices within the industry


Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • A Bachelor's, or above, degree in an Occupational Safety & Health field or 5 years or more of documented relative safety experience including hazard identification and mitigation in an industrial, heavy construction, manufacturing, or maritime environment.
  • Position may require business travel to other Electric Boat sites outside of the local area
  • Must currently hold, or apply for and maintain, a Secret clearance through the Department of Defense
  • Must currently hold and maintain a driver's license
  • Position requires travel to EB sites in CT and RI

Preferred:

  • BCSP Safety Certification (OHST, ASP, CSP)
  • Experience in a shipyard trade or construction environment
  • 1 year or more of documented experience related to safety training program development, management, or instruction


Skills

  • Strong Leadership competencies including people development, influence, and problem resolution
  • Technical skills: proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Ability to handle multiple, time sensitive projects while focusing on quality of work.
  • Attention to detail: highly organized with excellent follow-through and delivery.
