Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking an Engineering Aide to assist with a variety of tasks. Responsibilities include:

    Observation, field testing, and sampling of structural soil and other fill materials, cementitious materials, and asphalt materials.
  • Observation and measurement of reinforcing steel, vapor barrier, wood framing, and other materials.
  • Testing of subgrade materials for foundation excavation evaluations.
  • NPDES permit compliance inspections.
  • Reporting of daily observations and test results using provided digital or physical forms.
  • Reviewing and summarizing of daily reports and test results performed by others.
  • Drafting of summary letters following review of reports and test results.
  • Soil test boring layout and clearing monitoring for subsurface investigation projects.
  • Observation of test pit excavations and reporting of observations using provided digital or physical forms.
  • Measurement of planned retaining wall locations and elevations on provided civil drawings.
  • Drafting of retaining wall drawings based on calculations performed by engineer staff.
  • Assisting with environmental site assessment observations, data review, and report preparation.
  • Assisting engineering staff with other field testing, reporting, or administrative duties as needed.


Qualifications

  • Candidates with advanced knowledge or a bachelor's degree are preferred
  • Strong proficiency in conducting geotechnical investigations, soil sampling, and site characterization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and mentor junior staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and a passion for knowledge sharing and team development.
  • Proficiency in using geotechnical equipment and software for data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations, with a commitment to safety and quality assurance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
