The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 7 (Carroll, Frederick, and Howard County) is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Contract Supervisor (Transportation Engineer III) position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. All eligible candidates must meet the minimum and selective qualifications by the closing date. Nature of Work: The Maintenance Contract Supervisor provides technical assistance to the Transportation Engineering Manager in the daily operations of the District 7 maintenance staff. This position assists in managing two district-wide line striping contracts and manages the district-wide raised/recessed pavement markers contract. The Maintenance Contract Supervisor provides the highest level of professional experience necessary to ensure that the daily maintenance operations in the metropolitan counties of Carroll, Frederick, and Howard are carried out correctly, safely, and in a manner that will least affect the traveling public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience in professional engineering.

Selective Qualification: One (1) year of the required experience must have involved contract management.*This statement contains a selective qualification, which is more focused in scope than the minimum qualifications for this classification. Selective qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skill or ability).

Notes:

1. Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

2. Possession of a master's degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.

The selected candidate must obtain and maintain the following certifications within the first six (6) months in this position:

• Traffic Control Manager's Certificate
• Hot Mix Asphalt Certification
• Pavement Marking Certification
