Summary of Job Duties:The Graduate Assistant (GA) position offers a unique opportunity to explore the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Division of Student Affairs. Working closely with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (VCSA), the GA will research and help implement best practices for using AI to enhance student services, improve operational efficiency, and support data-informed decision-making. Responsibilities will include reviewing current trends in AI applications within higher education, collaborating with staff on pilot projects, gathering and analyzing information, assisting with administrative tasks, and, as appropriate and available, publication of research and findings. This role provides valuable exposure to the intersection of technology and student affairs, offering a strong foundation for careers in higher education, student services, or educational technology. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education;

  • Regular admission to a graduate degree program or good standing with the Graduate School for continuing graduate students;

  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • A strong interest in the intersection of student affairs, technology, and innovation;

  • Experience conducting research or supporting projects related to Artificial Intelligence, data analysis, or educational technology;

  • Familiarity with AI tools or platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, machine learning applications, data visualization tools) is a plus;

  • Experience working in a professional office or institutional setting;

  • Experience engaging with or supporting diverse student populations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Administrative Operations Manager and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (VCSA) with research and project coordination related to Artificial Intelligence (AI);

  • Research and compile information on best practices for AI integration in higher education and student affairs;

  • Support the evaluation, implementation, and documentation of AI tools that enhance student services and administrative efficiency;

  • Assist with developing guidelines, documentation, and training materials related to AI use in the division;

  • Collaborate with Student Affairs units to identify opportunities for technology-supported improvements;

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a divisional handbook or resource guide, including AI-related policies and procedures;

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of meetings, events, and presentations involving AI initiatives;

  • Greet and support students, staff, and visitors, addressing inquiries or referring them as needed;

  • Assist with general administrative tasks such as filing, record-keeping, and material preparation;

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of divisional goals and special projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments;

  • Strong research and analytical skills, particularly in reviewing emerging technologies and best practices;

  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence concepts, tools, or platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, data dashboards, automation tools) is preferred;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences;

  • Demonstrated professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical judgment, especially in handling sensitive data or student information;

  • Proficiency in productivity and collaboration tools, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and data visualization or AI-related platforms;

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively;

  • Comfort learning and applying new technologies in a higher education or student affairs context.
