This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote.

DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health Sciences is a Vice Chancellor area within the University of California San Diego (UCSD). The organizational structure comprises of an Academic and a clinical enterprise. The academic enterprise encompasses 2 professional schools (the School of Medicine and the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences), making up 20+ departments; the focus of the academic mission is teaching and research. The clinical enterprise includes the UC San Diego Medical Center, the Jacobs Medical Center, the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, the Moores Cancer Center, the Shiley Eye Institute and Student Health, all dedicated to patient care.

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) was established as a centralized business service center to provide Health Sciences departments with efficient, standardized transactional support services for faculty, academics, scholars, physicians and department liaisons in the areas of recruitment, appointment, academic reviews, personnel administration, and compensation. ARC's goal is to provide expert, timely, and accurate service and advice in support of the UC San Diego Health Science's mission of groundbreaking research, inspired teaching, and outstanding clinical care.

Incumbent will independently be responsible for the execution of technical activities related to ServiceNow and SharePoint. Responsibilities include interfacing with the School of Medicine departments, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS), the Academic Resource Center (ARC) and Vice Chancellor Health Sciences Academic Affairs unit (VCHS AA) to maintain, integrate, enhance and support the delivery of service to the client groups and gather requirements for system and process enhancements. The focus will primarily be on gathering functional and technical requirements by understanding complex business processes, and designing solutions leveraging multiple commercial off-the-shelf and custom-developed solutions. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing training and providing support and audit of the Faculty and Academic Information Repositories.

Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organizational policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of related experience or a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of experience and/or equivalent experience/training.

  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions.

  • Thorough Knowledge of related areas of IT. Including, but not limited to, application development, systems integration, infrastructure, databases, mobile and desktop user interfaces, and commodity IT solutions.

  • Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.

  • In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with management, supervisors, peers and co-workers within the organization to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.

  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills.

  • Broad knowledge relating to software design.

  • Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures. Experienced using business process mapping tool (i.e., Visio, Lucid Charts, etc.)

  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.

  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

  • In-depth experience configuring out-of-the-box functions and business rules workflow using third party Software-as-a-Service applications (exclusively: ServiceNow) that support business, administrative, or financial lines of business.

  • Experience leading a team and recommending priority projects to management based on resources, timelines, output, expected ROI and end-user impact analysis.

  • In-depth experience effectively presenting technical information (proposals, demonstration of new functionality, etc.) to both technical and non-technical audiences, of varying levels in the organization (ranges from entry level to director to AVCs).

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $77,000 - $139,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $36.88 - $66.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
