Sr. Application Engineer - Mining and Construction Products

Location - Remote position must be East of the Mississippi river within the US (Travel expected up to 90%)

Job Summary
Support Mining and Construction customer relationships by maintaining deep product technical knowledge and providing technical advice, technical support, and technical expertise to enable & foster expansion in the market and solve for customer inquiry, problems, and needs. Key targets include Underground mining, Surface mining applications including but not limited to surface miners', crushers, excavating equipment, Road Mills, Trenchers, and Foundation Drillling. Critical support to our core business by being a liaison with Sales Engineer, Productivity Engineer, and Inside Sales to support the customers' technical needs.

Key Job Responsibilities



  • Be an expert in the company's Mining and construction products and applications across end-markets while being vigilant of cost savings and expansion into untapped market applications.
  • Travelling 75% or more in support of customers.
  • This role is expected to travel to North American mining locations and visit underground operations, surface mining operations, material processing sites and all other mining operations as required.
  • Travel with customers to mine working face underground, on surface or in material processing site.
  • Understand the difference in the company's products vs. competitor's offerings and provide expert advice on the advantages of the company's products in specific applications.
  • Perform analysis of complex application needs and develop recommendations in support of customer balancing business need. Conduct tooling and application testing. Prepare and present progress, status, and forecasting reports of assigned area of responsibility.
  • Maintain expert knowledge on industry trends, training opportunities, and forecasts.
  • Support sales growth in using the company's products/technology to design and execute cost savings initiatives with customers.
  • Active collaboration with internal customers such as Product Marketing, Mfg., Technology, etc., to ensure information share and goal alignment.
  • Promote E-Commerce and other innovative revenue streams to support all customers and their buying habits.


Requirements



  • 5+ years experience in mining industry
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or equivalent working experience
  • Technical/Professional knowledge & skills, creating demand through insight, influencing, planning & organizing, decision making, account planning, active learning, advancing sales discussions, building customer loyalty, building trusting relationships.
  • Able to work independently with little supervision
  • Well developed interpersonal skills enabling teamwork and clear communication
  • Valid driver's license and Passport
  • Physically capable of passing the underground and surface mining safety certifications and working in underground mining environment. This may involve wearing and/or carrying at least 20 pounds of safety gear including self-rescuer and other mining gear.
  • Miner's card preferred
  • Crawling, climbing, kneeling, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling.
  • Confided spaces, dust, loud noise, heights, heat.
