The University of Virginia's Facilities Management has an exciting opportunity for a Carpentry Professional in our McCormick Zone group, which supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost-effective, reliable Carpentry repairs and maintenance to the Arts and Engineering Research community. This position will provide renovation, construction and maintenance services including critical repair, restoration and renovation of University structures. The incumbent performs work of moderate difficulty with responsibilities for constructing, installing, and repairing structures of wood, plywood, wall boards, sheet metal and other building materials, including historic building materials that require special attention to detail for repair work. The Carpenter performs other miscellaneous duties such as lock installation and repair, replacing glass and ceiling and floor tiles, painting and drywall work, and other building trade related duties. The successful candidate will demonstrate positive communication skills interfacing directly with faculty, staff and customers. Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,100 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties. Physical Demands: Employee must be able to variously sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, lift, pull, and use both hands-on repetitive tasks (including overhead tasks). Employee must have normal vision and hearing (correctable), and for some areas of employment, color vision and sense of smell. Emergency response and snow removal will be required. Anticipated Compensation: $24.50 - $28.50. per hour ($50,960 - $59,280 annually); dependent on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time non-exempt position with UVA benefits. Selected candidates will be required to complete all required background checks prior to the first day of employment.
