The Position

The Opportunity:

The Mailroom Material Handling Technician is responsible for managing the flow of mail and packages within the organization. This role includes receiving, sorting, and delivering mail and packages, maintaining mailroom equipment, and ensuring efficient handling of all materials. The technician plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all mail and packages within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and log incoming mail and packages

  • Sort and distribute mail and packages to the appropriate departments and recipients

  • Utilize mailroom equipment (e.g., postage meters, mail sorters, tracking systems) to process mail accurately

  • Prepare outgoing mail and packages for shipment

  • Ensure compliance with postal regulations and company policies

  • Maintain records of incoming and outgoing mail, including tracking information

  • Coordinate with courier services and postal carriers as needed

  • Assist with inventory management of mailroom supplies

  • Operate material handling equipment (e.g., carts, dollies) to transport mail and packages safely

  • Respond to inquiries regarding mail and package status

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient mail handling operations

  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of mailroom equipment

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure mailroom environment

  • Assist with event setups and backup as necessary

Who you are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Previous experience in mailroom operations or material handling preferred

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects and packages (up to 75 pounds)

  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with technology or mailroom software and tracking systems

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Knowledge of postal regulations and procedures is a plus

Working Environment:

  • Frequently lifting, carrying, and handling packages and materials

  • Operating mailroom equipment and machinery

  • Working in a fast-paced environment with constant interruptions

  • Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods

  • Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of Indianapolis, is 37,400.00 - 69,400.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
