PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

What you'll do.

The Public Education Manager leads the development and evolution of the AAN's public education content and initiatives, driving impactful brain health messaging across multiple platforms and departments. In this strategic role, you'll oversee content creation, product development, and cross-functional collaboration to bring educational resources to life. Guided by the Brain Health Committee and Public Education Editorial Board, you'll ensure our objectives are executed with clarity, creativity, and consistency. From shaping content strategy and design to managing complex projects, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, accessible information that aligns with the AAN's mission to improve brain health for all.

What we look for.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Health, Business Development, or related field is required

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project/program management in public education, health communication, content strategy (particularly in healthcare, nonprofit or professional association setting) or related field is required
  • Prior experience working in an editorial office or copyediting required
  • Previous experience working with physicians in a committee environment is preferred
  • Previous experience in digital education content delivery and working with vendors and external stakeholders in content production preferred

*Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for qualification requirements.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong project management, budget management, and organizational skills are required
  • Demonstrates ability to manage a comprehensive vision and translate into actionable steps is required
  • Demonstrated advanced verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Able to work under tight and calendar driven deadlines to deliver monthly content is required
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion on important matters, effectively manage ambiguity, and working within a constantly evolving and growing work portfolio is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization is required
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft platform or similar as well as Adobe Acrobat is preferred

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel required - approximately 5%. Ability to legally travel outside of the United States, particularly but not limited to Canada.

Location: Minneapolis, MNand is identified as hybrid (required to work in the office with the ability to work remotely part of the week)

Schedule: Some evenings and weekends required
