First American will always strive to be a great place to work, for all. What We DoThe Program Director is responsible for managing programs or multiple projects, with complex interdependencies, on an
ongoing and regular basis. Responsible for project planning and status reporting, risk management, and issue resolution.
The Program Director works more often with strategy and articulates the goals and objectives of the program and how it will
impact the business.

Essential Functions

  • Has full supervisory responsibility for a large staff. Delegates tasks, manages workflow and plans staffing requirements. Responsible for salary administration.
  • Interviews candidates and makes hiring decisions, writes and conducts performance reviews, provides ongoing feedback, and manages disciplinary actions.
  • Coaches and mentors staff; provides development opportunities. Ensures that teams and individuals understand roles and responsibilities via clear communication of goals and objectives. Meets with individual team members on performance measurements, goals and evaluations.
  • Independently manages multiple programs typically large in size with complex interdependencies.
  • Manages strategic aspects of program and ensures progress and attainment of goals.
  • Participates in the creation and execution of work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Develops program deliverables including program roadmaps, plans, scope, and schedules and establishes governance.
  • Implements engagement review and quality assurance procedures in accordance with company methodology to ensure profitable and successful execution of programs as measured by goals and customer satisfaction.
  • Conducts risk monitoring and controls to ensure ability to achieve expected outcomes, on time and on budget.
  • Communicates program status to team and stakeholders to ensure their understanding of risks, issues and activities related to the program.

  • Works on highly complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires significant originality and an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Exercises extreme judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Erroneous decisions will have an impact on the overall success of department operations.

Supervision Received or Extended

  • Responsible for a department that impacts other departments.
  • Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures operations' achievement of objectives.
  • Interacts with Executive and/or major customers. Interactions may involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders.
  • Typically has a minimum of 2-4 mid to high-level exempt direct reports.

Knowledge and Skills/Technology Used

  • Demonstrated competency in executing strategic plans
  • Ability to learn needs of a wide range of employees while driving team performance, monitoring results and appropriately allocating resources
  • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of complex projects
  • Experience and knowledge of functional tools and infrastructure
  • Progressive experience in leading employees in multiple locations, and significant experience developing and implementing solutions
  • Track record of designing, developing, and executing critical complex projects in more than one area of functional expertise
  • Experience with program management methodologies and techniques, and their application in business and technical environments
  • Excellent planning, time management, communication, decision making, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to build team cohesiveness to achieve results and pursue excellence
  • Ability to self-start and be versatile in a dynamic environment
  • Conceptual understanding of current technologies and methodologies to plan and communicate effectively with project team and sponsors
  • Experience developing and managing complex program budgets

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced degree or certification preferred

Typical Range of Experience

  • Typically 10+ years of directly related experience
  • 8+ years progressive management experience

License or Certification

  • PMP desirable

The pay range for this role is $131,800.00 - $175,750.00

This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
