The Code Enforcement Officer will be responsible for conducting field investigations regarding possible violations of a variety of City/County codes and ordinances, and related state codes including zoning, nuisance, property maintenance, housing, transportation, and animal and business license/permits, health, and sanitation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives complaints regarding violations of city/county ordinances and regulations; research city/county codes for appropriate sections.
  • Conducts field investigations regarding possible violations of a variety of city/county codes and ordinances, and related state codes including zoning, nuisance, property maintenance, housing, transportation, and animal and business license/permits, health and sanitation.
  • Explains and interprets City/County ordinances to violators; sets deadlines for compliance and follow-up. Writes notices of violation and directives outlining and describing areas to be brought into compliance.
  • Maintains daily inspection logs, records and files.
  • Takes photographs of violations and prepares comprehensive written reports. Works with various city/county divisions, departments, and other agencies such as Animal Control and Health Department.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Current PC 832 Certification.
  • Certification as a Code Enforcement Officer from CACEO or similar organization.
  • 3-5 years' experience.
  • 2 years of municipal experience.
