Description
As Global Director of Logistics, you will be a pivotal strategic and operational leader within Aurorium's global supply chain. This highly visible role is critical to delighting our customers and unlocking value through transforming our logistics team into a customer centric, cutting-edge, strategic partner, and highly efficient team. This role must focus on driving strategies that put our customers' needs first in delivering current and long-term programs putting Aurorium in a position to be a valued business partner. We're looking for someone who can redesign the logistics function where necessary and driving cultural change while thriving in a dynamic, ever-changing global environment, combining flawless day-to-day execution with proactive strategic thinking. You'll be instrumental in defining logistics innovation initiatives, operational excellence processes, and delivering cost-efficient service performance across our global network, while collaborating cross-functionally with business leaders, stakeholders, and third-party partners. The ideal candidate will seamlessly blend high-level strategic thinking around global service capabilities adding in trade compliance requirements to implement and manage detailed execution plans, leveraging data and key partnerships to deliver measurable business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Role Specific Responsibilities:
  • Define the Future: Architect and evolve Aurorium's global logistics and warehousing strategy, tailoring it to specific customer needs and business unit objectives. A critical element in the strategy will be a business continuity plan
  • Drive Strategic Growth: Collaborate with functional leaders to identify emerging business and specific customer needs which align our capabilities, build long-term execution plans for process optimization, risk mitigation, disaster recovery, and operational scalability
  • Team Management: build and manage a customer centric focused global team
  • Create a Culture of Excellence: Champion a culture of continuous improvement and accountability, applying lean principles and data-driven backed decisions to boost logistics and warehousing performance, consistently exceeding customer expectations
  • Drive Organizational Alignment: Design and implement a robust communication plan, ensuring transparency, consistency, and timely updates among global customers and regional logistics stakeholders
  • Lead Daily Operations: Oversee daily logistics across manufacturing sites and warehouse networks, ensuring on-time delivery, service quality, and cost efficiency meet defined KPIs
  • Optimize Partnerships: Strategically manage third-party logistics providers to ensure they meet customer and business needs, deliver on service commitments, while continuously improving efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. You'll be proactive in identifying issue root causes and implementing long-term solutions
  • Monitor and Interpret Trade Compliance: Continuously review the global logistics regulatory compliance environment, and performance metrics in order to generate insights to drive both short-term improvements and long-term strategic service decisions
  • Drive Financial Performance: Lead logistics productivity initiatives focused on cost recovery, inflation mitigation, and service enhancement
  • Champion Data Analytics: Partner with IT to develop an advanced analytics platform and dashboard, providing real-time visibility into carrier performance, spending, and service-level

  • Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements
  • Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly

Qualifications/Desired Skills

Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field

Experience:
  • 10-15 years of progressive logistics experience with increasing levels of responsibility, including leading cross-functional teams and projects
  • Preferred: Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute long-term global logistics strategies while adeptly managing day-to-day operational demands
  • Critical knowledge that will help drive strategy and team structure
  • A strong understanding of logistics cost structures, freight payment systems, and financial reporting to drive cost efficiency and transparency
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with large datasets; familiarity with tools like Power BI for insight generation is a significant plus
  • Proven success in leading both short-term initiatives and long-term programs, meticulously managing timelines, resources, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Expertise in utilizing methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma for root cause analysis and implementing sustainable corrective actions
  • A proactive approach to building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams and external logistics providers to ensure customer alignment, performance, and continuous improvement in delighting the customer
  • An ability to build, develop and coach a high performing team capable of navigating the global logistics challenges of today and in the future.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead through transformational change in an ever-evolving, global, dynamic environment
  • Strong financial acumen and a deep understanding of freight and logistics cost management
  • broad understanding of global trade laws, trade agreements, customs compliance and Import/Export Controls Licensing
