We're actively seeking a talented Director of Distribution Partner Integrations (DPI) working in our Newport Beach, CA office to lead the Consumer Markets Division (CMD) in the delivery of technology that enables a seamless, end-to-end digital customer experience for CMD's distribution partners. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Aligned to business strategic goals, this leader partners with business and IT leaders across CMD to implement and maintain solutions that maximize value, e.g., sales growth, customer experience, operational efficiency, etc. The Director will serve as the primary point of contact for CMD and PL Technology leaders for DPI-related technology and industry standards.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Strategic Leadership
    As part of their technology delivery responsibilities, the Director will establish and maintain a business-aligned strategy and technical roadmap for DPI's portfolio of solutions and platforms. Oversight of this portfolio includes direct management of some platforms and close collaboration with other business and technology teams for other platforms. To enable this strategy, the Director will drive agility in execution through modern architecture, Agile principles, and strong vendor management.
  • Technology / Solution Delivery
    Lead cross-functional technology teams and business partners in the execution and delivery of technology solutions associated with distribution partner integrations and enabling Annuity products on key technology platforms. Technology platform scope includes, but is not limited to annuity order entry systems, sales enablement platforms, contract support platforms, DTCC, DST Fanmail/Vision, and associated data integrations and transactions.

    Identify and champion opportunities and initiatives to advance digital-first initiatives within the Annuity industry and at Pacific Life with a focus on driving operational efficiencies and removing friction from the sales process our financial professionals use to sell our products. Serve on relevant industry groups (e.g. IRI, DTCC) and foster strong industry / vendor relationships.
  • Department Leadership & Management
    Oversee the structure, performance, growth and development of team to meet current demands and forecasting, preparation of future needs. Manage technology vendor relationships and outsourcing partners to effectively and efficiently deliver the technology and resourcing required to run the department. Manage departmental budgets. Foster and develop strong relationships with internal departments such as Strategic Accounts, Operations and other Technology areas, with a focus on developing a strong understanding of the business and being a trusted business partner that proactively brings forth business-focused technology solutions.

    Manage technology teams in effective delivery via strong in-take / prioritization and capacity management processes.

The experience you bring:

  • 10+ years' experience leading IT delivery teams with increasing responsibility
  • Industry-specific experience (Annuity / life insurance products)
  • Background in managing relevant platforms (Life eApp, Annuity order entry, Sales Enablement platforms, DTCC platform, DST Fanmail/Vision)
  • Experience in establishing and delivering strategic technology roadmaps aligned to business outcomes
  • Able to balance multiple demands from multiple departments to manage capacity, budget, and scalability to meet business objectives
  • Operates though influence in a "boundary-less" manner, leading technology teams to leverage skills and assets for maximum potential
  • Ability to manage and influence across, up, and down reporting hierarchy
  • BS or higher education

  • Experience in the implementation and management of Life eApp and Annuity order entry systems (eBix, Zinnia, Hexure, iPipeline, Porch)
  • Experience in the implementation and management of DTCC and DST platforms
  • Experience in the implementation and management of integrations with Sales Enablement platforms, e.g. FIDx, Black Diamond, etc.
  • In-depth industry knowledge and awareness of / participation in relevant industry groups (IRI, DTCC, etc.)

As a Sr Java Back-End Developer in Pacific Life's Workforce Benefits Division, you will be instrumental in building and optimizing the back-end of our administration system, a core insurance platform. Leveraging over six years of experience in Java development, you will ensure smooth performance, high security, and effective integration of back-end systems to meet the needs of internal teams and external users. Collaborating with front-end developers, UX/UI designers, and business stakeholders, you'll play a critical role in creating a high-quality, scalable, and secure environment while mentoring junior developers and promoting technical excellence. This role can be in Newport Beach, CA. or Omaha, NE. Relocation assistance may be provided.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Back-End Development: Lead the design, development, and optimization of Java-based back-end services within the insurance platform, supporting our configuration-focused environment.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with front-end developers, UX/UI designers, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless integration across all systems.
  • Microservices & API Development: Design and implement microservices and RESTful APIs to support secure, efficient integrations.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring optimal system response times and scalability.
  • Problem Solving: Lead troubleshooting efforts and drive continuous improvements in back-end development processes.

The experience you bring:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 6+ years in Java-focused back-end development, with strong knowledge of API and RESTful services.
  • Version Control: Proficient in Git for version control.
  • Working knowledge of Docker Compose, Spring Core, Spring Boot, Unit testing, Liquibase, Maven.
  • Knowledge of the Software development life cycle and programming best practices.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL.
  • Experience with Rule Engine is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Kraken Rules Engine, OpenL Rules Engine, Flowable, Scala, Kafka, Business Process Automation tools and Jenkins.
  • Industry Background: Knowledge of Insurance or Finance services.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$180,180.00 - $220,220.00
